Invisible Work at Brazilian National Congress
Presented by Senator Mara Gabrilli, UN member, and Galeria L, the exhibition Trabalho Invisível (Invisible Work) by Brazilian artist Tainá Guedes arrives at Espaço Cultural Ivandro Cunha Lima, in the Senate of the National Congress, in Brasília, from April 23 to May 8, 2025. Following its debut at Galería L in Mexico City in February and March 2024, the show expands its social and political dialogue, incorporating Brazilian voices such as Vanessa da Mata and Bela Gil, as well as performances, interactive activities and a public hearing scheduled for May 6.
Curated by Mônica Martinez and promoted in partnership with Banana Contemporary, the exhibition invites the public to reflect on the invisible work that sustains society — often performed by women in domestic tasks, care work, and sustainable practices. By occupying the political heart of Brazil, Invisible Work becomes a manifesto, connecting art and activism to make visible the structural inequalities that shape our daily lives.
The show uses recycled materials and everyday objects, a hallmark of Tainá Guedes' work, which explores the intersection of art, food, and sustainability. With the participation of personalities like Vanessa da Mata and Bela Gil, addressing issues of food and sustainability, the exhibition gains layers of cultural and social expression.
